Life continued. Si found the love of motorbiking and off-roading and I found out that it wasn't for me. This was quite a revelation. Why wouldn't I take to motorbikes? The whole point was to learn and go off on adventures with our good friends Jackie and Martin. Afterall, we all had a passion for scuba diving and both Jackie and Martin had bikes and had gone off riding around Morocco and Spain, The Pyrenees to name a few.
We both learned to ride and bought bikes (a few actually). Just 400 miles under my seat saw us have our first adventure "Famous Four Ride the Length of France". At 5am one summer morning we quietly wheeled our bikes of our driveway to make a stealth exit, only my trusty steed was having none of it and I set my bike alarm off!!! We made it to the Pyrenees, camped at lots of amazing places, including the wrong Roquefort, and had a superb holiday. Happy Days.
I won't go into the next disastrous biking holiday as this is supposed to be about my allotment but suffice it to say biking wasn't for me and I had to accept that I had different goals, needs and wants (biking not amongst them, although happy riding pillion) and that is OK, no more than OK. This was a big acceptance.
Still needing something for me, I tried various crafts, joined the WI for a brief spell, knitted, baked, pickled and then learned to run and that running was a great way to relieve stress, get a natural high, have some alone time oh and feel fitter than I have ever been. I even managed to run 14km and the odd Parkrun, Race for Life and 10km Clyst Hydon Huff.
All these things are still bubbling away in the background (well not the baking, I'll leave that to Julie at Little Home Bakery) but they aren't enough to fill me with excitement every day.
