9am and up onsite ready to receive 2 cubic metres of this...🤪
I always had a plan and new exactly how my allotment should be. 3 rotating beds, fruit area and asparagus. A shed, compost bins and an area to sit and chill and drink cider.
This is a poignant place in Tahiti's history, the bringing together of all our hard work.
Now back to reality, have you ever wondered how long it would take to singlehandedly fork (yes forking is better than spading because the blade of a spade snags on the bark pieces) bark chipping from a giant pile to each of your paths? No? It takes a really long time. Do you remember me mentioning in prior posts that for some reason I look skyward and with clenched fist yell "why?"
It's been fairly calm and dry this week so imagine when a hurricane decided to grace our shorelines the day before. I kid you not. Bark pieces individually are quite small, hurricane ends are quite big even if a little deflated. As quick as i was filling my barrow about a quarter was blowing off. Before the guy arrived I cunningly and proudly put down some black tarpaulin. I was very grateful for my forward thinking, which was mainly to not pee off the other holders when they found bark chippings all over the car park area, as I was able to fold the excess over the pile and weigh it down with breeze blocks whilst I wheeled my stash 100 metres to my plot.
Hours went by and I confess with aching back and Popeye biceps, I didn't think of taking many photos. I was too busy standing out of the wind and rain and plague of locusts and a trillion frogs that came up from the stream.
Believe me when I say I started with the side paths, the centre and then worked out if I had enough to do the back. Hello! 2 cubic metres! And of course an engineer husband who worked it out when I said how deep the bark needed to be laid...remember I have a cunning plan and I also have plans of every square metre!
By 4:30pm I was so tired and drained and I admit tearful that when the rain came again I downed tools but look at what a girl can do in a day I she puts her mind to it. Bloody invincible:
What is even better is that it's Whimple's first Comedy Club tonight and Si's besty Jez is joining us and so is me-joolie 🥰. Better get a wiggle on as don't want to be late and end up at the front!
Yep, down the front 🤣🤣🤣🤣
