30th Mar - Tomato time

It's been warm through March and my tomato seeds have grown really well in the heated propagator at home and are now lovely plants. I've hardened them off for a few days outside so I feel it's now time to plant them up. I still have the handy watering halos that I've used for years when growing them in growbags. It makes sense to use these on the allotment to hold water between days when I can't get up to water them and of course, if it rains they'll catch the rainwater.
I've grown on 4 different varieties with the idea of every month taking the strongest so that I eventually end up with 12 plants in total all at different stages so that I don't get a glutton of tomatoes in one go but rather the harvesting is spread out.
It didn't take long to put them in the ground as the bed had already been prepared during the last few evenings. Hopefully all will be good and next month I can add another of each variety.
