It's been a while. I've been a busy girl lately having decided to have a very long weekend for a 10 year anniversary hen weekend (and why not?!) and also decided to do the Jurassic Coast Mighty Hike raising money for Macmillan. The hike on 15th June is 26 miles, I'm no hiker so my weekends have been filled with practice hikes.
I have been feeling guilty for not attending my plot to the point where the absence made me feel nervous to return and see what I'd find! I was so happy to see my beautiful tulips! I'm so glad I thought about planting tulips and daffodils as every year I will get a feel good factor when everything else looks bland.
The fruit beds are looking good as is the row of garlic that's planted in amongst the bushes. The rhubarb has taken really well, so much so I've harvested 3 stalks to stew from the older plant I was given but no stalks from the baby plants. I brought up round two of my tomatoes only to find that the late frosts had got the first batch I planted. I knew I was over-keen but it seemed like we were warming up. I'll know for next time but this time I simply removed the frost eaten and replaced them with my new plants.
I've also planted my chilli plants and pepper plants that I've brought on from seed in my heated propagator. A few weeds but not too bad. So all in all, absence has made the heart grow fonder as I'm once again filled with a feeling of contentedness.
