27th Oct - Time for Bed

A break in the weather saw us charging to the allotment at full pelt to try to get as much done as possible before the next downpour. The ground was nicely turned over from yesterday's rotivating session and with a trusty giant rake, we levelled the soil as best as we could and paced out where the beds were going to be. The permanent beds already in place meant it was time to make up the three giant beds for the rotating beds.

It then became a race against time to create a bed and fill it with compost and soil conditioner. We managed to do the east bed before we had to take shelter in the shed!

Another break in the weather allowed us to make the final bed but the soil had turned to really claggy, sticky mud which was so slippy it was making work in-workable. So with a feeling of sadness, we packed away our tools and headed home with slightly heavy hearts and even heavier wellies!

But happy with what we had achieved.
