It's been chilly and although my patience is improving, there is something I can do in preparation for planting...warm the soil up.

A quick visit to B&Q with my Director of Construction Affairs, and a roll of wire netting and fleece was purchased. The idea is to cut 4 metre strips and bend the wire lengthwise, peg it into the ground and add fleece. This will help warm the soil and if you do this a good month before planting, your plants should be off to a good start.

Construction went a lot smoother than I think either of us anticipated and we managed to cover all the roots bed. I had a freebie plastic cloche which I put in the line where the sprouts will go in the brassicas bed.
