The rain did fall all day Saturday and some of Sunday morning. As soon as it stopped, Si and I headed back up to the allotment with trailer in tow.
Having rotivated a good deal of the ground on Friday evening, we set to work clearing more of the area near to the compost bin and slowly eat our way into the only remaining section of grassy bad bit left. It's always surprising how long it takes and as we only arrived mid afternoon, time was once again not on our sides. The rotivator was started and we went back over the section we'd rotivated on Friday and the newer area dug over today.
Some of the crappy soil was shifted to the area where the shed will eventually go. This section is really uneven and and lower than the rest of the site. Also, having chatted to our allotment neighbour, the area under the hedges can be prone to being water logged. I will leave this as a low point and build the shed higher. There will then be a slight retaining wall to the start of the plot.
The site is still not 100% cleared and there is still at least another weekend of digging and then rotivating to complete but we had to return the rotivator to the farm so we called it a day at dusk.

and wrapped my allotment up in warm plastic for a while as I'm off on holiday for a bit. I shall miss the digging but I'm sure a week in the sun and sea will do my blisters the world of good!
